It’s been about a little over five years now since the Columbia space shuttle disaster. Last month NASA remembered the crew who died in that mission.

Rick Husbands was the shuttle commander. Just before the crew boarded the space shuttle, Rick stopped them all and prayed. NASA workers commented that in all their years of working there, they had never seen a commander pray with his crew. At T minus 2 before takeoff, a NASA control person commented that it was a perfect day for launch and Rick said, "God has given us a beautiful day." During the mission, Husbands talked about how awesome God’s creation was as he saw it out of the space shuttle window.

Rick left a recorded devotional video for both of his children for each of the 17 days he would be gone. That was 34 videos he recorded so his children wouldn’t miss their daily devotions with their daddy.

Sure, what happened was a tragedy, but Rick Husbands sure knew how to live, didn’t he?
