"Do you collect or play?"

A little boy loves collecting football cards. Well, maybe "collecting" isn’t the right word because he doesn’t carefully place them in plastic sleeves in a 3-ring binder. He throws them in a shoebox when his mom makes him. The rest of the time, he has them out on the floor and plays with them.

He divides the cards up into teams and holds them in his hands, crashing the cards into each other as his "players" block and tackle. His mom was playing with him one day. He "tackled" one of her cards. She said, "Sorry, I bent your card."

"That’s okay, Mommy," he said. "I do it all the time." His favorite card—the Peyton Manning one—has frayed edges from "running and passing."

It’s really easy for you to collect life experiences; insulate yourself from fully participating in life instead of playing every day regardless of how much wear and tear you get. Go out on the playing field today and have some fun just doing it, not collecting it, as you listen to life. God gives you life to enjoy so play until the last whistle blows today as you make a life.
