Then you need to hear Richard Pharo’s story. He turned 70 earlier this year and guess what his wife, Loretta, gave him for his birthday present? You’ll never guess, but Richard Pharo may be the only person who would truly appreciate this gift. The Pharos live in Boston and Loretta gave Richard an all-expenses paid trip to the duct tape factory in Hickory, North Carolina.

Richard loved it! He’s always been fascinated by duct tape. Seeing how it was made was a real treat for him. He learned that “duck tape” was invented during World War II to seal metal ammunition containers for the U.S. Army. He watched as the tape was made 60 inches wide, and 2,000-yard long per bundle and then cut into 2-inch by 60 yard strips and rolled. Loretta Pharo knows her husband well, doesn’t she?
