"What really matters?"
I watched something very significant happen following the Super Bowl. Hype is the name of the game with the Super Bowl. It’s just about overtaken the game itself. This year, one of the storylines you heard constantly was the importance of this game because for the very first time in the history of the NFL, two African-American head coaches led their players. And that really is significant because prior to Super Bowl 41, no African-American coach had led a team.
One of those head coaches, Tony Dungy, in accepting the championship trophy after his team won, said something very interesting and very true. He said something like, "A lot of people have made a big deal out of Lovie Smith and I being African-American coaches for the first time in this game. But more important than that is that Lovie and I both believe in God and lead our teams as God leads us."
Dungy is right. What’s on the inside of you—your spirit—matters more than what’s on the outside. Listen to life today and lead out of your spirit like Tony Dungy does.
